    Could my newborn rapid weight gain is the cause of his constant crying?

    I made a mistake with the numbers in my original post so here goes again … My son was born weighing 7.14 and lowered to 6.14 by the time he left the hospital. within 5 1 / 2 weeks, has earned a whopping 7 pounds and is now 14 pounds. is this normal? eat between 1200-1600ml of formula within 24 hours. When we took him to the emergency, the other day because I was losing my breath to mourn so much and so long, the nurse thought it was 5 1 / 2 months … the dr said it was most likely acid reflux, but after investigating GERD I noticed that one of the symptoms is weight gain, so maybe the doctor also took my baby 5 1 / 2 months … could be uncomfortable and crying by the amount of weight gained, or is it normal for babies double their weight in a short period of time?

    "The poor weight gain" means SLOW weight gain Babies do not gain weight quickly often double their weight at 4 mo. Make an appointment with your pediatrician

    Any parents with experience on babies with terrible reflux?

    My baby has a terrible reflux. She is already on thickened formula and Prevacid. But Prevacid doesn’t seemed to work. My baby is in constant pain whenever she feeds usually after she had her first burp. Most of the time she wont finished her milk because of this. Just wanna get ideas from parents with similar situation. What medicines were given or any one had combination treatment for reflux on their babies? Help!!!!!!!!

    My son has reflux, and we had to swtich to soy formula and put him on Prevacid. We started him on Zantac and that didn’t make a difference at all. Then we put him on Prevacid and it helped a little but not much, so the doctor upped his dose of Prevacid. Right now he gets a liquid form of Prevacid, I heard that there’s a tablet or something but we don’t have that. He gets 2.5 mils 2x a day, and the strength of the Prevacid is 2.5mg/mil. We had to put him on soy too, and that is the only combination that worked. Once we got the Prevacid we tried putting him back on a milk based formula and he started having a real hard time again. We tried the thickened formula too but it didn’t make a difference at all.
    I really recommend soy based formula if nothing else is working, I know a couple of other people with reflux babies and soy made a big difference for them too.
    I know it’s hard to watch your baby go through that and I hope you find something that works!

    Why the thumbs downs? The question asked what how you treated your baby’s reflux and I answered how we treated mine? Last time I checked my son is VERY healthy and hasn’t had a problem with his reflux since we did this.
    It’s probably because I’m not breastfeeding right? OMG someone is using formula…BTW my son’s reflux was so bad that he couldn’t even handle breastmilk, one of the reasons I didn’t BF.

    what are your acid reflux symptoms?

    i was diagnosed with acid reflux, at first i thought it was something serious every month i get ecg and xray and all came out normal, i did that because of chestpain and sometimes a little heaviness on the left arm, anyway im only 25 years old and a filipina, and i thing acid reflux is not talked about much in my country thats why im keep on posting here aboiut my symptoms. im a hypochondriac and one of my doctors said that i should forget being anxious about this acid reflux and its symptoms, is acid reflux really like that, i mean it scares me evrytime i feel chestpain and eventhough i know that im ok, it really scares me, and im tired of being scared about it, i was relieved in a month , but 4 days ago, i got aLBM and it came back, the symptoms came back, how i wish i could rest my mind again from all these worries, please help do you also get this symptoms?

    yes I have all of them and more and probably 1 in every 3 people over 25 get them to some extent, so you are not alone. Its not nice is it?
