What are the best home remedies for acid reflux/GERD?

I have severe acid reflux and am taking prescription medicine for it, but it hasn’t helped. what are some home remedies I could take, like food, or liquids?

Have you cut all milk products from your diet? A lot of adults cannot handle milk products and they will make your symptoms worse. I would suggest that you try probiotics. This are the active cultures in yogurt. I know I said no milk products, but actually yogurt has been cultured so may not cause you problems. Or you can just take a probiotic pill. They are available at the health food stores.

A non-caffeinated carbonated drink will sometimes help, but you will have to see, some people it makes it worse. I would also try to eliminate as much caffiene as possible. Could be aggravating your symptoms.

If you have GERD and occasional high blood pressure, is it safe to take baking soda when you have a tummy ache

The reason I ask is baking soda has a lot of sodium in it. By taking a teaspoon of baking soda with 4 oz of water it helps eliminate stomach ache. Has anyone with occasional high blood pressure ever taken baking soda and didn’t have any problems? What do you think you have to do differently?

Try putting peppermint essential oil topically over the stomach area. This usually settles things down within 15 seconds. If your skin is sensitive, you can dilute the essential oil with natural cooking oil or unscented cream.

You can also purchase organic peppermint candy at your health food store. These work well, also.
