Acid reflux and gastritis?

I have been recently told I have mild acid reflux and chronic gastritis. My doc had me on kapidex but it was causing me other problems. So he told me that I could take otc meds for the acid reflux. My question is that I don’t know what I can or can not eat.And I don’t understand the whole gastritis thing. As for the otc meds,,I did get some Plilasec to see if that would help, but after reading about it I found that it tends to cause polyps in the stomach which I do not need cause those were found when the acid reflux and gastritis were found also during a scope test last week.
So if anyone can help me with this,I would be very thankful.

I have chronic gastritis, acid reflux & crohns. I can relate to you & hope I can give you some good advice.

Prilosec can work definitely, I have been on that, nexium & now currently I am on protonix & I think it works the absolute best. Nexium can have side affects that tend to hurt your stomach, so I was taken off that about 3 years ago and would HIGHLY reccomend protonix. I occasionally take Zantac (which is an OTC medicine) when I have heartburn really bad.

Gastritis, it sucks. Everyone varies on what their stomach can take/what works best for them. I know that raw vegetables, and lettuce are very hard to digest and if you have any intestinal issues, it is best to just stay away from those too. Also corn, because it is not digested the way other food is. Caffeinated drinks are also not the best. They activate your stomach (metabolism) and it leads to be an irritant.

I hope I helped at least a little bit, if you have any other questions I would love to help you the best I can, granted I am no doctor but I have been living with these issues for almost 14 years! : /

I KNOW as for acid reflux that acidic foods are the worst. *I want to also warn you to never eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taken and prescription medicine for acid reflux. It will make things 10X worse and it is painful*
